The journey through winding shaded roads from sea level to 6,000 ft takes you through a fantastic range of Kerala's lush landscapes. As you ascend enjoy brilliant views of the cultivation of coconuts, pineapples, rubber, coffee, pepper, cardamom and vanilla to eventually emerge into an endless vista of verdant tea gardens.
Munnar, literally meaning 'three rivers', is situated at the confluence of three mountain streams and is the perfect setting of absolute solitude and beauty for that exceptional moment of total relaxation away from the rush and bustle of city life.

This amazingly beautiful national park owes its existence to a dam constructed on the river Periyar in 1895. The resulting reservoir measures 55 square kilometers and the Park itself measures 777 square kilometers. It is one of 18 Parks in India that make up Project Tiger and whilst it boasts a healthy population of these big cats, due to its topography, the chances of a sighting are quite rare. However, you are sure to see wild elephants, monkeys, wild boar, antelopes, darters, cormorants, ospreys, kingfishers, drongos, fish owls, kites, hornbills, hill mynahs, herons, white egrets and orioles.
